The Absentee Blogger Strikes Again!

It’s been so long since I last blogged, I’m not even gonna try to excuse myself. Or am I?

Well since my last post, I have done the following:-

  1. Got the keys to my new house.
  2. Got a contractor and oversaw 2 months worth of renovations. This includes time spent picking tiles, fittings, wall colours etc. etc. (Hmm… why do I sound like I’m drafting a bill for my client?)
  3. Got legally hitched by getting registered on 30.10.2010.
  4. Had my wedding dinner on 21.11.2010. This includes having all my little pre-wedding dramas.
  5. Had my first home break in. Lost my laptop.
  6. Machine washed my 500gb external hard drive without losing any files! (I’m still using it, please bow to the power of Western Digital. Once it dried up after a month or so, it was good to go.)
  7. Celebrated CNY in Penang with J’s family for the first time ever.
  8. Learned how to make Teoh Chew Kuan Chen.
  9. Turned 28.
  10. Got knocked up. πŸ™‚
  11. Puked for 2 months via mouth and nose. (No, not sexy.)
  12. Thought of lots and lots of girl names… and found out I’m having a baby boy!
  13. Celebrated J turning 30 today!

So, I think its fair to say that I have excused myself, non?

Shopping Heaven

N, J, and I went shopping yesterday at Pavilion for my wedding heels.

It was unexpectedly The Best Shopping Trip Ever.

I had gone to Pavilion a fortnight ago, and whilst strolling in Parkson with J, spotted a gorgeous Carven Sense tube dress by Carven Ong that would be perfect for the ROM. I love Carven Ong’s wedding gowns but there was no way I could afford to buy one. When bridal shop hunting, I simply had to content myself with asking the bridal shops whether or not they carried Carven Ong dresses thus ensuring that I could end up renting one. Funnily enough when I was picking my dresses on Thursday (see my entry below), I was not bothered with labels at all! πŸ™‚ Too busy gushing at myself in the mirror, hahaha… narcissistic me.

Anyway, I had a look at the price tag and it was just within budget. The price tag was highlighted in yellow, so I asked the sales lady if it was on sale, but she said it wasn’t so I decided that I might be able to find a cheaper dress. It is after all 5 months before my ROM.

Well… during The Best Shopping Trip Ever, we were in Parkson again AND this time the dress was 20% off! Muahahaha… there were 3 only, in sizes S, M and L. So I took the M and went to the dressing room. It was so pretty, I loved the diamante detail. It was a little bit tight on top so I thought maybe I was an L, so I asked J to grab the L, but he came back and so there was no size L! I was like “Of course there is! I saw it!” It turned out that seconds after I took M, another couple took L and was trying it on! Of course I couldn’t get M unless I tried L, what if it was the right size for me? So we anxiously waited for the other couple to come out, hoping that they weren’t gonna buy it too. N (doing a great job as my Man of Honour) asked the sales lady to tell the girl trying it on that it was horrid on her. Hahahaha…. Luck was with us, cause they decided not to get it, so I got to try it on too. It turned out that I am an M after all πŸ™‚ S and L also had different diamante detail compared to M, and M’s was way nicer. They also had a free alteration service, so they measured me up, and next week I’ll be picking it up! πŸ™‚ I was really surprised that I managed to find my ROM dress so soon. I had been dreading shopping for it.

We then focused on the original purpose of the shopping trip  finding heels that are tall enough for me and not just pretty but wedding pretty. I had brought the highest pair of heels I had to the bridal shop when trying on my dresses, and I knew that I definitely had to get a pair as tall as those or I’d have problems on the actual day itself. The dresses looked so good when I put on tall heels. I was advised by Boey to get silver heels because if I bought white ones, I’d have to buy another pair to match my evening gowns. My shopping luck continuing, I very quickly found 3 tall and pretty silver Bill Keith shoes. Alas! I soon found that they didn’t have my size. I have midget size 35 feet.

I was not to be deterred though, fresh off my joy from finding my ROM dress, I decided to look around some more and found a pair of gorgeous white Zang Toi heels, 10% off, sparkly, tall and amazingly, comfy! I decided on the spur of the moment to stretch my budget a bit and buy another pair of heels to match my evening gowns. I snapped up the heels, and after prancing around in them in my room for an hour tonight, I’ve tucked them away in my room to wait for my big day.

Funnily enough, I only just realized tonight that I don’t even have to buy another pair of heels, because both my evening gowns are pastel, and white heels will go with them. πŸ™‚ As my heels were so comfy, I also thought that maybe they were shorter than the pair of shoes I brought to the bridal shop. I measured them earlier, and guess what, my heels are in fact taller! *bliss*

6 months to go!

Since CNY, both J and I have been completely bogged down at work. We had not taken a single day of annual leave since February. March to May 2010 was completely bereft of public holidays, so we were v. v. v. eagerly waiting for Wesak Day Friday to come by. We both took annual leave on Thursday and Monday, giving us a seriously long deserved 5-day-break from reality.

On Thursday, J and I went to our bridal shop, Vogue Collection in SS2, for our 2 o’clock appointment to pick my dresses! πŸ™‚ Tres happy!

The moment the shop assistant, a v. sweet girl called Boey, said go ahead and pick the dresses you want to try, I went crazy! We tried to keep it systematic, so I tried on wedding gowns first and then evening gowns. It took us 5 hours but I was as happy as Charlie in the Chocolate Factory! I loved so so so many of the wedding gowns, it is a crime that we are only allowed to wear those gowns once in our lives. πŸ™‚

Anyway, I only had to pick 2 wedding gowns and 2 evening gowns, 1 each for the photoshoot and actual day. The ones for the photoshoot are usually a lot more “drama” because you don’t have to walk around in them much.

From the 2 photoshoot wedding gowns I shortlisted, it was pretty obvious that I was letting the Disney Princess Wannabe in me have her day at last. J, JX and N (the Jury) thought there was no contest between the 2, and I can’t wait to wear the one I picked!

The actual day evening gown was also very easy to pick, I didn’t even shortlist another. I just knew I wanted that one. It’s in my favourite colour (pink, duh!), very light and flowy. I can already imagine myself running around during the dinner and having a blast in it!

The actual day wedding gown was a bit more difficult, I shortlisted 3 and I loved them all! One was exactly the kind I thought I would pick when I was little (simple and modern), the second was exactly the kind I thought I would never pick (detailed and slightly retro), the third was just so pretty (light and flowy too!). The Jury was split. N was clear that he liked the second, my brother liked the first and the second, J like me (bless him) liked all three.

In the end, I picked the second one, yup, the kind I thought I would never pick! I just think it was the most flattering on me. The third would have been really risky, cause though it fit, I definitely had to lose more weight to fit it perfectly. The first was really hard not to pick, it was the kind I always thought I would wear after all… ultimately something in me just clicked and I decided the second one was it. πŸ™‚ The first one sort of had the same silhouette as the photoshoot wedding gown I picked so by picking the second one I kinda got to wear both the ones I liked.

I actually picked my photoshoot wedding gown almost instantaneously but the stubborn me couldn’t believe that it wasn’t pink! Hahaha… I truly thought that I’d be going pink all the way. So I had shortlisted another dress. Out of the 2 though, the Jury was unanimous. So the long and short of it, is that I’ve picked my 4 dresses, 6 months to go before D.Day πŸ™‚

… to be continued.

He proposed!

I’m the happiest and luckiest girl!

J proposed to me today and I was so happy, I’m still in a complete blur (8 hours later)!

He asked me to marry him in the place where he first came up to me and we spoke to each other for the first time alone. He was so cute, and looked so adorably nervous, he was sweating like crazy!

It happened so fast, but it doesn’t matter because I said “Yes!” just as quickly, and we’re getting married and that’s all that matters..

Plus! I have the most gorgeous ring too! (That matters too! Hahaha…)

Wedding Band sorted!

We went for Jason’s ex-college mate’s lovely wedding yesterday and have found our wedding band too!

Jerry and Friends

They were so great, we are absolutely convinced that they were the band that played at Adlee’s wedding too! They sang most of my favourite songs absolutely beatifully and both the violinist and the saxophonist were wonderful. So I made Jason grab their name card, and I called their Manager earlier and have put our names down! So excited. A couple of hundred over budget but totally worth it because I think music is half the battle. We’ll just have to be creative and find some spare cash πŸ™‚

(Side note, Jason just plucked my very first white hair. I hate my job. Its definitely caused by my job.)

Aww… this poor blog of mine.

I have not been updating, was thinking of stopping.

Got all nostalgic today though (so many old posts and stuff) so I decided to post now.

What a looooooooooooooooooooong day. I had a hearing, moved office, had a loooooong meeting and had Korean food for the first time ever (Yes, yes, I don’t know what rock I just came out from :)).

I also recently got a major haul of books at the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale. Haha.. RM208 but I scored 25 books!!! That’s less than 10 bucks a pop!

To top it ALL off, I got an early christmas present from Kevin – Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – the deluxe heirloom edition. I’m sooooooo thankful for it. :))))))))))) Taking mini bites out of it, I don’t want to finish it all at once.

Paintin’ the Town Red

Ok. Not the town but J’s room. Not red but cream. But what the heck.

About ‘painting the town red’… too much of a nerd to do so la. Clubbing is nice and all but I hate that after effect smell my hair can’t get rid off for at least 36 hours and dressing up is really hard since I’ve put on 4 kgs in UK. πŸ™

Really loving making over J’s room. The secret interior design fetish I have is unleashed! Hahaha.. been rearranging everything and thinking of ways to spruce things up even more.

Anyway really fun running through all of J’s stuff. The poor thing. Ended up teasing him and stuff but mostly just discovered more things to love him for.

PS: Don’t worry dear I promise to make your room RARGET.
