6 months to go!

Since CNY, both J and I have been completely bogged down at work. We had not taken a single day of annual leave since February. March to May 2010 was completely bereft of public holidays, so we were v. v. v. eagerly waiting for Wesak Day Friday to come by. We both took annual leave on Thursday and Monday, giving us a seriously long deserved 5-day-break from reality.

On Thursday, J and I went to our bridal shop, Vogue Collection in SS2, for our 2 o’clock appointment to pick my dresses! ๐Ÿ™‚ Tres happy!

The moment the shop assistant, a v. sweet girl called Boey, said go ahead and pick the dresses you want to try, I went crazy! We tried to keep it systematic, so I tried on wedding gowns first and then evening gowns. It took us 5 hours but I was as happy as Charlie in the Chocolate Factory! I loved so so so many of the wedding gowns, it is a crime that we are only allowed to wear those gowns once in our lives. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, I only had to pick 2 wedding gowns and 2 evening gowns, 1 each for the photoshoot and actual day. The ones for the photoshoot are usually a lot more “drama” because you don’t have to walk around in them much.

From the 2 photoshoot wedding gowns I shortlisted, it was pretty obvious that I was letting the Disney Princess Wannabe in me have her day at last. J, JX and N (the Jury) thought there was no contest between the 2, and I can’t wait to wear the one I picked!

The actual day evening gown was also very easy to pick, I didn’t even shortlist another. I just knew I wanted that one. It’s in my favourite colour (pink, duh!), very light and flowy. I can already imagine myself running around during the dinner and having a blast in it!

The actual day wedding gown was a bit more difficult, I shortlisted 3 and I loved them all! One was exactly the kind I thought I would pick when I was little (simple and modern), the second was exactly the kind I thought I would never pick (detailed and slightly retro), the third was just so pretty (light and flowy too!). The Jury was split. N was clear that he liked the second, my brother liked the first and the second, J like me (bless him) liked all three.

In the end, I picked the second one, yup, the kind I thought I would never pick! I just think it was the most flattering on me. The third would have been really risky, cause though it fit, I definitely had to lose more weight to fit it perfectly. The first was really hard not to pick, it was the kind I always thought I would wear after all… ultimately something in me just clicked and I decided the second one was it. ๐Ÿ™‚ The first one sort of had the same silhouette as the photoshoot wedding gown I picked so by picking the second one I kinda got to wear both the ones I liked.

I actually picked my photoshoot wedding gown almost instantaneously but the stubborn me couldn’t believe that it wasn’t pink! Hahaha… I truly thought that I’d be going pink all the way. So I had shortlisted another dress. Out of the 2 though, the Jury was unanimous. So the long and short of it, is that I’ve picked my 4 dresses, 6 months to go before D.Day ๐Ÿ™‚

… to be continued.
