Gilmore Girls and Euphoria had a baby, and it’s called Ginny & Georgia

A Canadian production pretending to be American? Adorable. I know I’m late to the Ginny & Georgia party, but I’m here now.

Hot actors ? ✅

Georgia’s Southern drawl is overwhelming and grating at times but I can’t help but be pulled back by her character, I’ve always liked the Scarlet O’Hara type of spirit. Obviously, not the slave ownership is wonderful side but the “I’ll never go hungry again” side, and if you read this and assumed that, it’s on you, not me.

Like Alexis Bledel and Zendaya, Antonia Gentry who plays Ginny is absolutely gorgeous! Felix Mallard and Raymond Ablack? Ditto.

Serial Killers?

The music is also very pick me up. I added the official Spotify playlist rotation but stopped for Renee Rapp’s Bite Me.

Anyway the album is a nice little placeholder for before Taylor Swift’s next album drops. I really hope the rumours of the next album coming in September being real because I do think that it could be a Reputation TV situation. Taylor Swift (based on her songs and lyrics) is totally capable of putting off an album for an extra year to romance Travis Kelce 😅.

I’ve basically been consuming a lot of media (much needed distraction/denial/self-soothing pacifier).

Amy Poehler’s Good Hang is such a cute little podcast that’s obviously huge in just a few months cause she can get so many huge celebrities to show up. I basically tuned into Bite Me cause Renee Rapp was on one of the episodes. Listening to her made me realise I don’t swear half as much as I think I do.

I really liked the Jetsons’ cartoon aesthetic of The Fantastic Four. I also can’t be the only one who thinks that Joseph Quinn looks like Robert Downey Jr. right? Chris Evans still owns the role to me.

Also, in yet another case of having to separate the art from the artist today – Dean Cain joined ICE?! Lois & Clark will always have a spot in my heart. It’s like Teri Hatcher’s Lois Lane will always be the definitive portrayal for me. I can’t help it, cause my Elderly Millennial instincts are too strong. James Gunn’s magic touch on the latest Superman movie was just chef’s kiss.

Content

We watched The Batman last Thursday and I just loved it.

Even though the screen was black most of the time (a pet peeve), I just loved the detective vibe of the whole show. Robert Pattinson is also the Batman that all women deserve in return for all the unsought action films we put up with for our other halves. Gorgeous.

I’m also watching Euphoria and this series is just… crazy. There’s so much to process each episode. I’m glad it isn’t just the pure emo, we want to cut or kill ourselves teen trope that I thought it might be.

I was also rabidly listening, reading and watching all the Elizabeth Holmes, Theranos stuff.

Apart from all the media content I’ve been consuming, I’ve been feeling very content. It doesn’t feel appropriate considering all the Russia-Ukraine madness but in my own little world, I have been doing alright.

J and I solved our decade long plumbing woes and showers in our house are finally hotel level epic. I had been nagging J to install an instant water heater in place of the concealed rain shower we have in the guest bathroom but he decided to get a proper plumber to diagnose the issues we’ve been having instead.

Turned out our water pump was leaking, our existing storage water heater was too small and its motherboard gone, our water pipes were of random dimensions and sometimes not connected to the water pump when it should be.

The final magic touch was simply swapping the shower handle for a high pressure shower handle from Shopee! These babies seriously work. RM18 and it’s like a urine trickle to Niagara Falls. Haha.

Die Hard? Good. Love Actually? Good. Love Hard? Good!

It’s really tempting to act all culturally superior and denounce Love Hard without even watching it.

After all, it completely comes across as another Netflix cheap shot at milking Christmas rom-com fans BUT this movie is actually good! Or should I say it’s good actually.

I’m not even a Nina Dobrev fan as I never got sucked into The Vampire Diaries. If you wish to indulge in some vampire screen time, your time is far better spent watching True Blood or What We Do In The Shadows.

It’s funny how I didn’t realise how much representation matters. When I first watched Black Panther, I didn’t understand the hype on how important it was to African Americans. Bingeing K-dramas, watching Shang Chi, and now Love Hard has changed that. I complete get now the comfort and reassurance it provides.

Harry Pottering

Hahaha.. I’m reading Harry Potter 1 to 7 all over again. After reading and thoroughly enjoying book 7, I just had to go back and spot clues in the first 6 books.

Anyone who stumbles on my blog need not worry about any spoilers though.

I’m a devout believer in not spoiling books/movies by giving away the plot.

This is due to an incident in Form 4 when my friend asked me if I had watched Sixth Sense and upon me saying no, promptly told me that you’ll never believe Bruce Willis was a *****!

^&*#$%)$*#$@

Anyway, really love JK Rowling. I know I should be reading books not aimed at pre-teens but seriously facing a book drought at the moment.

No library here to borrow silly books from, and I’m not a fan of buying crappy books for RM30.

When Harry Met Sally

What happened to movies like these? I really want to watch a really good romcom again, with great dialogue.

I really don’t think The Breakup qualifies. I just watched it the other day and it was so depressing. Reminded me of the mistakes I made repeatedly for almost 3 years. I actually teared up.

Ah well, really love When Harry Met Sally. What happened to Meg Ryan? Wish she didn’t mind being typecasted cause she fits those roles so well, neurotic adorable American Sweetheart.

Tried to watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarves today, still think its boring and slightly creepy. Haha, I’m a scaredee cat.
